چکیده

In this paper, we present the calibration results of the NASA/JPL Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (AIRSAR) for the Pacific Rim II mission. We also demonstrate the key elements of the calibration techniques for both polarimetric SAR (POLSAR) and cross-track interferometric SAR (TOPSAR) processed with the AIRSAR Integrated Processor.

Inversion of Surface Parameters from NASA/JPL AIRSAR Polarimetric SAR Data

The improvements of polarimetric SAR data inversion algorithms are discussed and presented. The confounding influence of roughness and vegetation cover on the estimation of the soil moisture contents are considered in the inversion algorithm that estimates moisture content and roughness parameters simultaneously from the pertinent combination of polarization measurements. The estimation of soil...

Remote Sensing of Ocean Waves and Currents Using AIRSAR Along-Track Interferometry (ATI)

The phase information in along-track interferometry (ATI) SAR images is a measure of the Doppler shift of the backscattered signal and thus of the line-of-sight velocity of the scatterers. This interferometric velocity is the sum of the orbital motion of water particles from the swell, phase velocities of the Bragg waves, and ocean surface currents. While the advent of ATI SAR provided us with ...

The Nasa/jpl Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar System

The NASA/JPL airborne SAR (AIRSAR) system operates in the fully polarimetric mode at P-, Land C-band simultaneously or in the interferometric mode in both Land C-band simultaneously. The system became operational in late 1987 and flew its first mission aboard a DC-8 aircraft operated by NASA's Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. Since then, the AIRSAR has flown missions every yea...

Polarimetric and Interferometric SAR Calibration Verification Methods

It is necessary to calibrate SAR data in order to use the data for science applications. When both polarimetric and interferometric data are collected simultaneously, these SAR data can be used for cross-calibration and verification. The frequency of polarimetric and interferometric data does not have to be the same for this purpose. For example, the NASA/JPL AIRSAR system can acquire C-band in...

Presenting a New Approach to Increase the Efficiency of the Sediment Rating Curve Model in Estimating Suspended Sediment Load in Watersheds (Case Study: Mahabad-Chai River, Lake Urmia Basin, West Azarbayejan Province, Iran)

The estimation of the correct amount of suspended sediment has an important role in the optimal design of water structures, erosion studies and water quality studies. The sediment rating curve (SRC) is a conventional and well-known regression model. However, due to logarithmic transformations in calibrating this model, its estimated values are often less than actual values. In the present s...
